What this site does, and what it does not do
SwissLima is a free editorial guide devoted to travelling in Peru. The site sells no services, takes no bookings and collects no payments. There is no basket, no customer account and no online payment.
The guide also offers services, described on the Contact us page. Two cases should be distinguished:
- Introductions. If an introduction leads to a service (guide, driver, lodge, workshop), that service is the subject of a separate written proposal, which specifies the provider, the service, the price, who collects payment and the cancellation conditions. The contract is then concluded with that provider, not with SwissLima; any commission paid by the provider is disclosed to you in the proposal.
- Paid support. If you ask for personalised organisation or a detailed opinion for a fee, your contract is with SwissLima’s publisher named above. The scope, deliverable, timescale, fees and means of payment are given to you in writing before any commitment; payment never goes through this site.
Related activities and declared interests
- Swiss Lima Property (swisslimaproperty.ch) is the property business of the same company: support for people who are looking into buying in Lima, and guidance on long-term accommodation. When a page of this guide mentions it, it is a relationship of interest, flagged as such.
These links do not give any establishment a better place in the guide’s selections. Restaurant and venue pages state separately whether we have been there, where the information comes from and whether there is a commercial relationship: see Our method.
Accuracy of the information and liability
SwissLima is a general information guide. Despite the care taken, it may contain errors, omissions or out-of-date information. In Peru, prices, opening hours, transport, formalities, site access rules and security conditions change often, sometimes without notice; information that is accurate on the day it is consulted may no longer be so a few weeks later. The texts are also prepared with the help of artificial intelligence tools, which can make mistakes too (see Use of artificial intelligence).
The information is therefore provided with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness or currency. It constitutes neither professional advice (medical, legal, tax or financial), nor an offer or a contractual commitment. Before a journey, a purchase, a booking or any decision, check the information with the source indicated or the body concerned. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher accepts no liability for any damage resulting from the use of this information, its inaccuracy or its unavailability.
Each page lists its sources, and the rates, opening hours and rules cited come with the date they were consulted. You can report out-of-date information: it will be checked and then corrected.
The pages devoted to health, altitude and safety give general pointers drawn from official sources. They do not replace a medical consultation or the FDFA’s up-to-date travel advice.
Ownership of the content
The texts, itineraries, tables and recipes on this site are original works written by SwissLima. Reproducing them, beyond a short quotation with a link to the page, requires the publisher’s permission. The texts are written with the help of artificial intelligence tools: see Use of artificial intelligence.
Use of artificial intelligence
This site uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools, for its texts and for its images, and the publisher reserves the right to continue using them to prepare, update and illustrate the guide.
- The texts are written with the help of AI tools, from the sources cited at the bottom of each page and the register of dated data. These tools are used to search, compare and write; they do not visit places or taste dishes. See Our method.
- The images are illustrations generated by AI: their caption starts with “Illustration:”.
- What an illustration shows: a dish, a scene or a type of place, for illustration purposes. It is neither a photograph, nor an exact reproduction of a place, monument, market or establishment mentioned, nor a dish served at a place in this guide; an illustration proves nothing about what you will find on the spot.
Data and credits
- Illustrations generated by artificial intelligence: all the images on the site, chosen and described by SwissLima; see Use of artificial intelligence.
