A chain born from a counter

According to Wikipedia and a profile published by Infobae in 2024, La Lucha Sanguchería Criolla opened on 15 August 2009 in Miraflores, near Kennedy Park, in premises of 12 square metres. Its founder, César Taboada, comes from Catacaos, near Piura; he says he wanted to recreate the flavours of his region in Lima. The chain had six branches in 2015, opened in Arequipa and Trujillo in 2016, then in Chile and Colombia from 2018.

The concept, according to Infobae: criollo flavours served like fast food, with bread made by its own bakers; the article mentions a beef fillet sandwich with double cheese and caramelised onions. Wikipedia also reports a controversy in 2020 over dismissals during the lockdown, disputed by the company.

Why this page gives no prices

On 3 October 2026, the official website only showed a holding page, with no menu and no list of branches. The menus found elsewhere (social media, review sites, delivery platforms) are neither dated nor confirmed by the chain: we do not reproduce them. If you go, look at the menu displayed at the counter, and compare with El Chinito, whose October 2026 menu is published.

What to know before you go

  • The branch: the chain has several addresses in Lima, including Miraflores; ask for the nearest one and its opening hours.
  • Ordering: a sánguche can be ordered on its own or with a drink; ask the price of both.
  • Allergies: ask what the sauces contain.

Our suggestion

A point of comparison with El Chinito: two Lima sangucherías, one born in the centre in 1960, the other in Miraflores in 2009, with different formats.

What to ask before you go

  • The nearest branch and its opening hours: the official website does not currently publish them.
  • The menu and prices on site, sandwich on its own and with a drink.
  • The contents of the sandwich you choose, if you have an allergy.
